    This has to be the oldest MotorWeek video on YouTube…and it’s from 1986 (the show debuted in ‘81)?!?!?

    i agree, i got a 944, im gettin a 86 turbo once i sell mine, and my friend is set on gettin a rx7, we are gonna race and w/e and record it to see wich one is better, itll be kool

    22 years later…. you don’t really see any starions anymore, those 300zx’s aren’t attractive at all, rx7’s are nice but those turbo 13b engines are prone to blowing up at 100k.

    944s and the rx7s look the best today, i say 944>rx7 for looks, handling can be changed so it’s tough to say which is better exactly, both are great!

    I have 1987 944 Turbo and 1988 RX-7 Turbo in my garage. I loved and got these two cars before seeing this video and this just proved my taste, I guess :-D

    so around the price of a Cayman S today… thanks!!!

    Wow, inflation sucks, I bet this is why gas prices are high nowadays, not because of ’supply/demand’ but because of this inflation!

    That car was way too heavy and soft, even back then.

    Question: Anyone knows what $29800 (Base price of the 944 new) in 1986 is worth today?

    yup thats true,i driven a 300zx its not comfy as the 944

  15. 1986ElCaminoftw responded on 08 Apr 2008 at 4:11 pm #

    They say the 300ZX is more comfortable than the 944? That’s bull - I own an ‘83 NA 944, and it’s very supple and luxurious. My friend has a 88 300ZX and it’s cheap and rattley. Psh, they just had to say something good about it. Also - manual steering on the Porsche :)

    I want a 944T.

  21. rkoopman1 responded on 18 Apr 2008 at 4:24 pm #

    get your story straight;

    the 924 only uses en 2.0l audi engine, the rest of it is porsche

    The 944 was designed to replace the 924. Porsche wanted it to be faster than the 924 and besides, audi stopped production of the 2.0l engine of the 924. For the 944 porsche used half the engine of the 928’s V8, so they wouldn’t have to designe a complete new cilinderhead.

    So you’re right if you say the 924 isn’t a full porsche. The 944 instead is 100% porsche, it has nothing to do with VW or Audi

  23. turboglen responded on 23 Apr 2008 at 1:08 pm #

    80’s turbo cars rock!! I have driven all of those cars (well the chrystler conquest insted of the starion) the rx7 is really the only one that comes close to driving like a 944.
